What's going on in Government?

Ladies and Gentlemen, I happened to be watching the news last night and there is this "scandal" going on in Canada regarding the President of the Canadian Mint; David Dingwall.

He apparently racked up $747,000 in expenses that were paid using our taxes. Whilst listening to the news in Canada on a regular basis, it can easily be said that the liberal government in Canada is largely corrupt, (there is another rather larger issue that is being investigated by the Gomery Enquiry regarding sponsorships that lead to top level government officials) and until now, I have been somewhat uninterested...

But what really gets me, is that this Dingwal character, who incidentally earns $200K or so a year and "voluntarily resigned", is likely to be getting severance pay! I know, that if I were to resign my job I would'nt get severance and probably, nor would you! We would get paid what we earned and waved good-bye!

Apparently the government says that the law stipulates Dingwall should be paid a severance package, however, the article interviewed a couple of employment lawyers who stated that no such law exists.

These people are public servants, they should earn a wage reflective of the position and then be able to expense items that would have a direct impact on the company and or government department in which they work, not expense whatever they damn well please!

This Dingwall guy, as it happened, expensed golf club memberships, fancy dinners and even - as CTV was keen to point out - chewing gum...

He earns $200k, why in the hell would you need to expense chewing gum!? And what benefit does the Canadian Mint and the people of Canada gain from it???

It appeared, watching Question Period the other afternoon, that the liberal politician who attempted to defend the need for Dingwall to receive severance, stumbled on his words like a timid child trying to make up a lie. If you ask me, a blatant illistration of how this liberal government seems to bumble their way through governance of this great country.

Whilst I enjoy living in Canada, and the general quality of life isn't so bad - aside from the phenomenally high tax rates - I can't help but feel that this government is possibly the most corrupt and idiotic I have had the pleasure of living under.

Having spent time living in the US and being a little suspect of George W's motives for going into Iraq, as well as having spent time in the the UK - obviously - and not really having a clue whether the government is corrupt or not, now coming to Canada and watching the news, one can't help but think that this liberal government are a bunch of blithering idiots.

I mean, the average Joe feels that most governments are receiving backhanders of some kind or another, but a fair majority of them keep the people involved so locked tight that it never really becomes national news, here, in 'Cannuk-land' it seems that top flight government officials don't really care to cover their arses.

****************************************************************************

More and more as we look around the world there appears to be a bunch of old boy's network running each of these powerful westernized countries the way they feel and not as representatives of the people.

These politicians are elected officials. We, the people, choose to have them lead us. But it appears that once they hold office, do they really care what we the people think?

Again, while living in the US around the time of Gulf War II breaking out, many Americans marched on the capital - Washington DC - in protest of the war. When George W was asked what he thought of the protests, he rather distantly said; "this is a free country, they are entitled to their opinion."

For crying out loud, your people, the people that elected you are saying that they don't like what you're doing! Pay ATTENTION for Christs sake!

This type of nonchalant governing really gets up my arse, it really appears to be a: 'I have what I want, now sod what the people think...' kind of attitude, and it reaks of corruption!

We elect you because at the point of election we feel that you have the strength in character to take our countries in the right direction. Act responsibly and govern responsibly.

As I ramble on, it occurs to me that this kind of governance should be re-defined, if you will, here is what I have come up with; DIC-TA-CRACY; (verb), where governments govern under the banner of democracy, but are actually governing a dictatorship... If nothing else, it is a huge testament to the spin-doctors these people employ, as it would seem that we really have no idea.

Ladies and Gents, before I get myself into trouble, I shall bring these ventings to a close, but I really felt the need to get this off my chest. As a general rule westernized society is an excellent institution, it just appears at times that the global freemasons out there have us by the short and curly's, and their decisions, whilst drunk on power may infact take us all down one day...

Food, as always, for thought.

Kids, it has been a pleasure. Until next we meet... Another blogs the dust.
